Coober Pedy Speedway was started by former Sidecar Riders Nipper Crabb and Bob White.

The original track was thought to be too small, so the members of the car club enlarged it.

It has lights, is fast and smooth and suits solo and sidecar bikes very well.

When a meeting is held, it is a "Big Night Out".

In 2003, it is reported that the Speedway had been sold to a private promoter.
