Information supplied by Keith Eacott via email on 3/9/2011.

Good morning Adrian,

There was a half mile track at Whyalla which was functional in the 40s and 50s.

I can remember Laurie Jamieson staying with family friends, and two local blokes (both long gone) Reggy Gade and Neil Hewitt of whom today would be considered legally blind won a state title.

Rumor has it that Reggy rode with the help of the track perimeter mounding.

I can’t find anything on the web pertaining to this particular track, but the Whyalla Motorcycle Club still exists and next time I’m in Whyalla I’ll see if there is any archived history.

Cheers,

Keith.
